Puwal is a boatman of Nemuguri village on the bank of a river without a bridge. Recognizing the force of change, he earns money to give his grandson the best education. Life flows smoothly until Puwal hears that a bridge will be built to industrializzze Nemuguri. While disturbed, he is distracted by his son" s invitation to the city. There, his delight disintegrates to find his son only wants Puwal" s signature on a deed. Dismayed by his son" s materialism, Puwal returns to find the bridge has been commissioned and his world crumbling away.
