Baek-ryeon (Lee Min-ja) once dreamed of becoming a ballerina, but has instead for ten years endured psychological abuse as the second wife of a businessman named Hyeon-jo. Meanwhile, Dr. Han (No Neung-geol), a young archaeologist, appears and captures her heart. Mae-ri (Do Geum-bong), a daughter of Hyeon-jo with his ex-wife, loves Dr. Han, and her jealousy drives the marriage of her father and stepmother almost to its bitter end. Baek-ryeon and Dr. Han become inseparable, but the doctor leaves for America, leaving her to wander the streets in despair, finally dying.
