Locarno International Film FestivalYearResultAwardCategory/Recipient(s)1971 Won Golden Leopard Best Second WorkFollowing his release from prison for"diversion" of government property, Michal (Tadeusz Jancsar) gets a job at a plant where his thieving co-workers know about his conviction. Instead of going along with their ways, however, it becomes clear that Michal has changed the way he goes about things. When he hires someone who was in prison with him and weans him from stealing, it is abundantly clear that he is a changed man. Indeed, so evident is his rehabilitation that he is made the head of the whole factory. Janczar's solid performance leavens this Polish film, which might otherwise have been perceived as preachy.
