Gustavo Letelier is a writer, producer, and director. He comes from Santiago, Chile where he is the President/CEO of Amerindia Films. Mr. Letelier has produced and directed several acclaimed motion pictures and is one of Chile's most respected film directors. He holds two master degrees, one from the New School University and the other from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts where he holds a masters degree in film production. He produced and directed many shorts, documentaries and corporate videos, both in the USA and in Chile. In 1994, he settled back in his country and produced his debut full feature film titled Even in the Best Families where he wrote, produced and directed this comical independent Chilean production released nationally and exhibited in La Havana Film Festival, Biarritz Film Festival, and the Lérida Film Festival. Mr. Letelier wrote, produced, directed, and scored his second full feature the poetic drama Fantasy for Piano and Nostalgia recently released in Chile and now starting international exposure through festivals. Mr. Letelier has been nominated for the World Soundtrack Award of the European Film Academy for the music composition of this film. Currently Mr. Letelier is packaging the English spoken sci-fi thriller/drama, Perfect Species with New Mexico based company DH&J Productions, L.L.C, for production in 2009 and worldwide release in 2010. He wrote the script and will direct, produce and score the film. Mr. Letelier is the Academic Director at the most important Chilean film school and for over ten years Gustavo has been permanently involved in film education. He teaches cinematography, production, and directing at UNIACC. He has been invited to give lectures on media and film issues at other universities in Latin America and Europe. As a Latin American Educator he was awarded a two-year research Grant by CILECT, the biggest international film school organization. The research has recently allowed a multi-international series production for Latin cable/TV and digital distribution.
