A young driver, an elderly passenger and a coffin haphazardly tied in the trunk, find themselves in a taxi. The ride becomes a dreamlike peregrination and the two men are transported to strangely real places where the memories of a whole life, most often cruel, are interwoven with fantasies. During this trip they will become acquainted with, or run into again, Karkalou, a woman who is sometimes young and fragile and other times worn out by her life experiences, but always erotic. Other familiar persons will appear before they disappear again, before the last leg of the journey takes in an old truck which no longer has an engine, before the taxi delivers the old man’s coffin to its final destination. Every so often the clicking of the mechanical taximeter is heard indicating fare increments and minutes of time.
