Synopsis Entering for the first time the zones of a modern zoo usually closed to visitors to discover the mechanisms of a semi-unknown world that has fortunately inherited the spirit of Noah. A new universal flood is pelting our planet, generated this time by the dark clouds of deforestation, poaching and pollution. The lives of thousands of animal species are in danger but there is a vast international community, the EAZA (European Association of Zoos and Aquariums) that is working to guarantee the conservation of the species at risk with a surprising interconnection and interaction between the member zoos. They include the zoo in the centre of Rome, which opened its secret doors to tell the story, poetically and up close, behind the scenes of a day in the life of a chimpanzee rescued from poaching, of a rare tiger cub, of an unforgettable new-born sea lion, of a Grevy’s zebra and a pair of dangerous monitor lizards brought together to mate. DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT The urgency dictated by the dramatic conditions of our Planet and the powerlessness of the animal world in the face of destruction truly made us feel the responsibility of doing and saying something about it. We are genuinely passionate about the microworld of the Bioparco di Roma.
