Joy and Mindia meet in Tbilisi and start a long distance relationship. Though in Georgia being queer is dangerous, they dream of a life together and start reselling vintage clothing to save up. When things get too tough, they flee to Belgium for seeking asylum. Once emigrated, they face privacy invasions at a Belgian refugee shelter. They eventually find a supportive queer group in Brussels and start to feel at home. Just as things seem to be settling, their asylum application gets rejected. Now, they must fight to stay together. "Vakhtanguri" uses an experimental documentary style to portray their journey of love, resilience, and a place to call home.
