Physics meets film meets the terribly topical end-of-the-world theme: the set of Liliana Cavani’s The Order of Time was a sort of Noah’s Ark in which the cast and crew isolated themselves for five weeks. Alessandro Gassman, Claudia Gerini, Edoardo Leo, and Valentina Cervi among others discuss climate emergency, wars, and a future at risk while Cavani helms the production and Carlo Rovelli explains the end of time. Thus, in this documentary, the film’s meteorite becomes a metaphor of what really happens in the life of the characters. Disguised as a backstage, this is a delicate, intimate film interested in discovering the persons behind the performers with a careful, sensitive approach. With the pretext of cinema, closeness between individuals is celebrated, while the filming location – a beach by the Circeo promontory – becomes a redeeming microcosm in which professional role differences wane, uncovering a profoundly human convergence.
